Word of the Year 2025: Explore

Set Your Intention For The Year

If you're needing inspiration on how to best direct your energy for the new year, may we suggest setting your intention with a single word? Bobby Nashville hopes to inspire you with our Word of the Year: Explore

It’s easy to make a New Year’s resolution. It’s harder to keep one. One good alternative to that problem is to set an intention for the year by selecting a word of the year. That word can help inspire you when you need a boost and help inform your decisions.

At Bobby Nashville, we like to think about choosing a word that helps us have more of the good stuff—like a year filled with good music by up-and-coming songwriters, good food, good drink and maybe a game of pickleball or two. We also like to be pumped up—to develop new programming and new activations to help our guests and our staff experience Music City in new ways.

So, we’ve chosen the word “explore” to carry us through 2025. Explore is a word of possibility. Here are five suggestions for engaging with our word of the year in Nashville.

Explore your feelings: TheraPaint Studio. This Music Row spot will provide you with compostable paint and PPE and a clean room, where you can toss paint a wall and let all your aggressions out. It’s a great way to get rid of the old emotions before welcoming in the new.

Explore new food: Chef Vivek Sutri calls his food “first-generation American” cuisine, inspired by the traditions from his family in India and what he learned growing up in Nashville. Book a table at Germantown’s Tailor to experience it.

Explore new ideas: Libraries are storehouses of information and experiences, and the Nashville Public Library is no exception. Check out the downtown main branch’s Civil Rights Room and the Votes for Women Room to learn about two important periods in Nashville history.

Explore new landscapes: If you did make a New Year’s resolution, it might involve some kind of fitness. If you lace up your hiking boots and take a day trip out to Fall Creek Falls State Park, you’ll see some great scenery with 56 miles of trails. And you’ll get some exercise.

Explore new music: The Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. keeps a running list of all the free places to see music in town. Pick one and go hear something new on a budget, which is a handy option if you made a resolution to spend wisely in 2025.
