Discover Intersection, a dynamic art exhibit at Bobby Nashville running March 14 – September 23. Curated by Red Arrow Gallery, this latest exhibit features Nashville-connected artists, blending painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Experience the intersection of art and Music City’s evolving culture in this thought-provoking display.
The Collection at Bobby Nashville opens March 14 with the latest installment Intersection, and is also the word that best describes where Bobby Hotel is with its visual arts program. Part of that new convergence includes welcoming a new partner for its popular, thought-provoking visual arts exhibits.
While Red Arrow Gallery is new to working with Bobby, it is not new to Nashville. Since 2014 the East Nashville gallery has developed platforms for both emerging and established artists and helped to elevate Nashville’s contemporary art scene. Red Arrow is led by Katie Shaw, gallerist, and Ashley Layendecker, director.
For its first collaboration with Red Arrow Gallery, Bobby Nashville welcomes “Intersection,” a project that involves Nashville-connected artists whose diverse works—ranging from painting and sculpture to mixed media—reflect the unique spirit of Music City. The idea behind Shaw and Layendecker’s curatorial eyes is to show how visual art can amplify, transform, and complement spaces and they have done just that with Intersection.
Works include sculptures by local favorites Brett Douglas Hunter and Paul Collins. Hunter has two pieces in the show, both large, brightly colored and aptly named (“Pink” and “Green”), while Collins created the hackberry ink and acrylic “St. Frisbee Restless Arm Syndrome (Sleep).” Other artists with works in the Intersection show include Julian Rogers, Lindsy Davis, Karen Seapker, Khari Turner, Duncan McDaniel, Linda King Ferguson, Benji Anderson, Marlos E’van, Brianna Bass, and Marcus Maddox.
Each artist featured in the Intersection exhibition has a deep connection to Nashville and brings their own perspective to the dialogue between creativity and environment. The works on display capture a city that is constantly evolving (that’s one of the reasons it’s so fun to come back again and again). Nashville has a vibrant music scene and rich cultural heritage, and that’s reflected in these works, and viewers are invited to explore the interplay between space, context, and artistic expression.
Intersection opens March 14 and runs through September 23. It will be on display throughout Bobby Hotel.
