Defining romance, particularly around Valentine's Day, could easily lead you to flowers, chocolate, and candlelight. Nashville offers experiences for all these classics that will get you and your sweetie feeling the love!
Flowers, chocolate and candlelight are not the only ways to create an air of romance. But they certainly don’t hurt, particularly around Valentine's Day. If you want to plan a date night with these three classic elements, but you also want to do something different, it’s about to be your lucky night. Nashville offers interactive options for all these classics, with activities that will get you and your sweetie spending time together and paying attention to one another.
Flowers: You may have seen the 1960’s Amelia’s Flower VW Transporter trucks driving around town, offering design-your-own-bouquets and an Instagrammable experience. The couple who brought flowers to the masses now opened Pont Neuf in L&L Market. Pont Neuf is a wine bar and flower shop combined. Look through their cut flowers and pick your own for a bouquet that will then be delivered to your seat as you sit and sip wine, snack on sourdough and olive oil. There are also some pre-made arrangements (with names such as “Meet Cute” or “Just Because”) if you don’t feel like designing your own. Borrow one of the bar’s Camp Snap Cameras and preserve your date night for posterity.
Chocolate: It’s not just a funny name. The Goo Goo Cluster was the country’s first combination candy bar. It was invented in Nashville more than a century ago. In the 100-plus years since they’ve come up with lots of cool flavors and even work with local chefs for some limited-edition treats. You and your honey can sign up for a class at Goo Goo Chocolate Co. downtown (just a few blocks south of the Bobby Hotel Nashville) and make your own. There’s also a Secrets of Goo Goo class that pairs chocolates with Tennessee wines.
Candlelight: There’s something about the flickering light of a candle that makes everything seem softer and sweeter. At Paddywax Candle Bar you can take a workshop to pour your own candle. Select your own vessel, each with different shapes and colors, choose a signature scent and make a candle representing your relationship. You can participate in a workshop with an instructor in Berry Hill or do a self-guided experience in the Gulch. In Berry Hill, there’s a full bar so you can sip while you pour.
