Remember the anticipation of summer camp when you were a kid? School was out, and you were labeling your clothes and packing your duffel bag, getting ready for the day when you could head back to camp, see your friends from last year, and savor some food cooked over a campfire.
Well, Camp Bobby is just like that…sort of. Every winter, Camp Bobby pitches its igloos on the rooftop for more than three months of themed outdoor fun. Adults in the Nashville area look forward to this Rooftop Lounge experience as much as they looked forward to summer camp as kids. But Camp Bobby Nashville has several advantages over kids' summer camp, including much better food and drinks.
The idea behind Camp Bobby is a vintage-style winter wonderland with Music City views. The Rooftop Lounge is decorated with pop-up igloos, a vintage holiday lounge, a mess hall with live DJ beats, fire pits, and camp-themed décor, plus the well-known and well-loved 1956 Scenicruiser bus, ready for camp. Don’t worry, you don’t have to ride in an old bus over dirt roads to get to this camp. You can just take the elevator. The igloos are cozy, covered tents that protect you from the season’s wind, rain, and occasional snow, while still allowing you to look out at the city skyline.
Camp Bobby is in session from Nov. 2, 2024, to Feb. 16, 2025. The rooftop is all ages, except for the bar/tent area and throughout all of Camp after 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, which is reserved for adults only (21 and older).
To cozy up in one of the igloos, you’ll want to make a reservation. There’s a $250 food and beverage minimum, plus a $25 reservation fee for each igloo reservation. Each igloo can hold up to six people. Reservations are for 90 minutes, with a two-hour time limit. The vintage cruiser bus can accommodate 18 people and also requires reservations. There’s a $500 food and beverage minimum, plus a $50 reservation fee for a two-hour reservation. The bus has a 2.5-hour maximum time limit.
The Camp Bobby menu from the mess hall is appropriately themed, with foil-wrapped loaded baked potatoes, spinach dip in a skillet, and Dutch oven nachos with brisket chili (sure to fend off the chill from a winter breeze). Drinks, of course, include a non-alcoholic hot chocolate, plus warming cocktails made with Baileys Irish Cream, apple cider, and other seasonal ingredients. No bug juice to be found.
