Stephen Collier is a visual artist living and working in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Through his playful, multi-disciplinary practice—spanning video, installation, performance, assemblage, painting, collage and sculpture—Collier interrogates the signs and signifiers of American mythology. With attention to craft and a distinct, wry sense of humor, he delves into notions of colonialism, empire, mass culture, and histories that have been forgotten (or erased).
Collier’s work has been exhibited nationally and has been covered in numerous publications, including Art Forum, The Wall Street Journal, BOMB Magazine, Time Out Chicago, Burnaway, and more. He received his BFA from University of New Orleans in 2000.
