Linda King Ferguson’s abstract paintings, shaped by personal experience and a deep connection to the human form, explore themes of strength, vulnerability, and healing.
Linda King Ferguson is a painter who views her work as social bodies, exploring abstraction through techniques like cutting, folding, weaving, printing, and staining. Her paintings, which resemble garments, are both representational surfaces and dimensional objects, scaled to the human form and incorporating balance, asymmetry, and inquiry. Drawing from personal experiences with cancer and the pandemic, Ferguson’s work explores themes of trauma, renewal, strength, vulnerability, and healing. Her practice is organized into three visual constructs: reduction through cut surfaces, light and dark hue gradations, and layered materials, each acting as conduits for visual pathways and emotional exploration.
