Julian Rogers’ Wave Upon Wave series explores abstract landscapes of clouds and horizons, blending oil painting with a quest for simplicity and self-expression.
Julian Rogers is an oil painter known for manipulating layers and light to create abstract, otherworldly scenes. His recent series Wave Upon Wave focuses on vaporous clouds and vibrant horizons, reflecting a period of self-discovery during his travels through Thailand, China, Mexico, and the US. Moving away from previous cultural influences, Rogers sought to create abstract works that feel detached from everyday life. His paintings have been exhibited internationally and are part of collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. He is currently based between Nashville, TN, and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
