How did you get started as a DJ?
I got started as a DJ by accident! In 2022 I was looking for other creative outlets that were kind of adjacent to being a recording artist, and an acquaintance of mine was selling his old controller. I bought it, and not even 2 months later had my first gig.

Can you tell us abot your creative process when preparing for a live event?
I take into consideration what kind of event it will be (wedding, club, grad party, etc.) and start building my set based on that. That gives me the skeleton, but what gives me the body is imagining the space and the feeling I want to evoke throughout the set. If it’s a poolside set, I want to bring that feeling out 10x. A graduation? We’re celebrating. Outside at sunset? The music I choose will reflect exactly how it feels.

What can the crowd expect from your set on New Year's Eve at Bobby Nashville? Any surprises in store?
It’s NYE downtown Nashville, right?! We’re celebrating just like that! With it being my first set at the Bobby I want to make sure I introduce myself appropriately and make sure we end 2024 with a bang!

How do you go about reading a crowd and deciding what to play next in a live setting?
It’s 50/50 between going with my gut and going with what I know. As much as I play into the crowd and what they’re feeling, I take my duty as a DJ very seriously in creating an experience for the attendees. I know I’ve succeeded in doing that when I’m playing a track that they might not be familiar with, but they’re dancing to it like it’s their favorite song.

Is there a particular track or style that you think captures the excitement of a New Year's Eve celebration?
“Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” That song - to me - is what celebration feels like. Because I mean, when that ball drops, I wanna dance with somebody!! That song feels like your hands are in the air and you’re jumping around with your favorite people. As you’re reading this, you started singing it in your head and smiling, didn’t you? Exactly.

Being a local artist, do you have any favorite memories or wild stories from pas gigs here in Music City?
I’m sure if I think hard enough, I have some wild stories. Honestly, my favorite memory - which I do at a lot of my shows - is to take a second and look at the crowd. …look where I am! The fact that people, whether it be 1 or 1,000, leave their houses to come to spend time seeing me do what I do is something I probably won’t ever get used to. Knowing they could be anywhere else, but they chose to spend that hour or however long my set is with me will always give me goosebumps when I take it in.

Who are some artist who have inspired you and helped craft your talent?
From superstars to the world like The Weeknd, Lil Wayne, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and JMSN. To my own personal superstars Chuck Indigo, Tesha Jay, Jeremyck Smith, John Stamps and a phonebook’s worth of more names have all played a huge part in me getting where I am today. From advice, tips, support, or simply being a great friend I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people around me.

What are your own New Year's resolutions for 2025, both as a DJ and personally?
Keep going. As simple as that may sound, that’s what it is. I’ve been laying my foundation for quite some time, so if I just keep going there’s no telling how far I can take this thing. From not even having a controller this time 2 years ago, to being booked to spin NYE downtown in the city I grew up in, I’m being shown firsthand that anything is possible when you keep going.
