Brianna Bass creates dynamic paintings that use color, illusion, and texture to expand the viewer’s perception and explore the intersection of natural and artistic patterns.
Brianna Bass is a painter from Chattanooga, Tennessee, whose work blends math, color, and illusion to challenge the viewer’s perspective and explore the boundaries between natural and artistic patterns. Moving beyond the flatness of geometric painting, she incorporates shadows, warbling edges, and visual noise to expand perception, creating a synesthetic experience for the observer. Bass earned her MFA in painting from Yale School of Art in 2022 and her BFA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2013. Her exhibitions include Female Abstraction at the Green Family Foundation (Dallas, 2023), Rose Tinted Glasses (London, 2023), and shows at Jeffrey Deitch Gallery (New York, 2022) and the Tree Art Museum (Beijing, 2021). Her work is held in collections such as The Green Family Foundation, JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, and Ernesto Esposito.
